Frequently asked questions.

Is Voicen free?

Voicen is free forever, with no account, subscription, ads, or built-in AI credits. Third-party cloud transcription and LLM polishing are optional bring-your-own-key (BYOK) paths; you pay providers directly and Voicen never collects any fees.

Where are my recordings and notes stored?

Audio files, notes, and transcripts are stored locally on your iPhone. The Voicen developer does not collect, upload, or host this content. API keys and other credentials are kept separately in the device's iOS Keychain.

Which transcription engines does Voicen support?

Apple Speech, built into iOS, is used by default and works out of the box. You can also configure your own Volcengine, Alibaba Cloud Bailian (Qwen / Fun-ASR), Xiaomi MiMo, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Soniox, or Microsoft Azure Speech cloud ASR and connect any OpenAI-compatible LLM to polish notes. All of these are optional.

Does Voicen support English?

The first release focuses on Chinese recording, transcription, and note polishing. English speech transcription quality is not part of the current release promise, and may improve in later versions.

Who receives my data when I enable cloud services?

Audio or transcript text is sent to your selected provider only when you enable a cloud ASR or LLM service yourself. How that data is handled depends on your agreement with the provider and its privacy policy.

A quiet entry point for voice.

Voicen is not trying to be a chatbot or a content platform. Its job is to help you capture voice quickly and come back to a usable note.
